In the video of  Thomas S. Monson, he was sharing his story to everyone about how when he was and eight year old boy, this was how the story went, so when he was eight he had his good friend over at his to have a bonfire, thomas and his friend were pulling out weeds so they can build their binfire, but thomas had an idea of just lighting up the weeds so they wouldn't pull more weeds out. As thomas went in his house to get the match, he lighted it up and threw it on the weeds. They were excited about the fire but they weren't anymore when they noticed that the fire was spreading, he had a small group of people helping him to light off the fire. He said that he didn't make a right decision, he was disobedience, he knew what the consequences were, and thats when he said "Obideince is the great test of life" he learned from his mistakes and knows what not to do. he chosed to be an obetient person.
